Community, as you know, there have been a LOT of recalls here in the U.S. lately. Still, I was shocked to see this post on my facebook feed earlier this evening. Now hand soap too?! If you're frustrated with this string of recalls, I want you to know that I'm right there with you. As a mother of 2 school-aged children, I understand what it's like to navigate the sometimes turbulent waters of finding safe and effective products for your family. About 13 years or so ago, I made the decision to replace the commercial hand soap in our home with our handcrafted bars. We wanted our hands to feel as nice as the rest of our skin.

Speaking of choosing better products, a wonderful way to do that is to purchase from small business growers and producers as often as possible. Shop your local farmers markets, co-ops, and small business grocers when you can. If or when you do shop at larger chains, look for products from independent farms and small businesses. Many stores have special signs or displays to help you find them.
